BPD Photo of The Day: P.A.L. Sponsors First Ever Vacation Week Junior Police Academy

Fourteen Middle School students joined Community Service Officers from Area C-11 in Dorchester for a first ever vacation week P.A.L. Junior Police Academy. The weeklong program which normally takes place during the summer months, introduces the participants to various aspects of the police department including physical fitness training, tours of police facilities, and meeting Police Commissioner Evans and Chief Gross.  The kids were all smiles during their visit at Police Headquarters and had a chance to sit down with Commissioner Evans and Chief Gross. “With education and hard work you can accomplish anything in life,” said Commissioner Evans. “You would all be welcome members of the Boston Police Department.”  Chief Gross addressed the group saying, “You are the true leaders of your peers. You showed courage by being part of this Police Department and making your own decisions to be here with us.”  Community Service Officer Dario Fancelli acknowledged the importance of these kinds of police/youth interactions. “The relationships we develop with these kids today last a lifetime. This is the best part of my job.”
