Daily Dose of Great Police Work: Boston Police DCU Arrest Suspect and Seize a Shotgun and Firearm in Roxbury

 

At about 4:00pm, on January 31, 2014 members of the Boston Police City Wide Drug Control Unit (DCU) set up surveillance of the area of Ruggles Street pursuant to an ongoing drug investigation.  

Officers observed the target of this investigation, Eric Christian, 30, of Roxbury, exit a location in the area.  Officers observed Christian enter the back seat of a Toyota Camry.  Officers along with other members of the City Wide DCU followed this vehicle and requested the assistance of marked units to stop the vehicle, at the intersection of Harrison Ave and Melnea Cass Blvd. Officers approached the vehicle and observed the target of this investigation Eric Christian, in the rear of the vehicle. Officers approached the vehicle and asked Christian to exit the vehicle, to which Christian complied and was placed in handcuffs for officer's safety.

After further investigation officers recovered a Star InterArms .45 cal firearm, with ammunition and a Ingram, Mac-10 Style Semi-Auto Submachine  .45 (machine gun) also with ammunition. Officers also recovered a bullet proof vest, drug paraphernalia, drugs (believed to Cocaine), cells phones and personal papers, in the name of Christian.

Eric Thomas Christian, 30, of Roxbury, was placed under arrest and charged with Possession of Sawed –Off Shotgun or Mach Gun, Unlawful Possession of Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Trafficking: Class B Drugs  and expected to appear in Roxbury District Court on Monday.
