Boston Police Command Staff Ceremony

Command Staff Ceremony: Today, Tuesday, February 11, 2014, Commissioner William Evans swore in the most diverse command staff in the department's history in a promotional ceremony taking place at the JFK Library. During the ceremony, Commissioner Evans promoted 12 officers, including Superintendent-in-Chief William G. Gross, the department’s first African-American second-in-command. Said Commissioner Evans “This is a great day and an exciting day for our city. I have probably the most experienced, diverse command staff that any Commissioner could want and I’m very proud of the team we’ve put together.”
