Daily Dose of Great Police Work: Police Arrest Two and Recover a Stolen Motor Vehicle in the area of Washinton St. and Croftland Ave.


At about 12:23 AM, Tuesday, February 11, 2014, while on patrol, officers from District B-3 (Mattapan) made an onsite arrest in the area of Washington Street and Croftland Avenue in Dorchester.

While on patrol, officers observed a silver motor vehicle operating with no headlights at the intersection of Blue Hill Ave and Morton Street. A check of the vehicle’s registration revealed that the vehicle had been reported stolen. In light of this information, officers followed the vehicle without activating their emergency equipment (lights and sirens). Officers followed the car as it came to a stop at a local gas station. Upon seeing officers, the vehicle sped off at an accelerated speed. After losing sight of the vehicle, officers relocated the car in the area of Washington Street and Croftland Avenue. On arrival, officers observed the vehicle to have collided with a chain link fence and a house. Upon approaching the vehicle, officers observed two male suspects flee the vehicle in opposite directions. After a brief foot chase, officers were able to apprehend and arrest the two suspects.

Arrested was Michael Goldsmith, 22, of Dorchester and Isaiah Cooper, 26, of Jamaica Plain. Both are charged with Receiving a Stolen Motor Vehicle and Resisting Arrest, while Goldsmith additionally faces Destruction or Injury of Personal Property and Disturbing the Peace.
