Daily Dose of Great Police Work: Footprints in the Snow Lead Officers to Suspect Seen Breaking into Homes

At about 11:50am, on Wednesday, on February 12, 2014, officers from District B-2 (Roxbury) responded to a call for a suspicious person in the area of 30 Delle Avenue. According to the caller, the individual was ringing doorbells and walking in and out of backyards. On arrival, officers observed an individual, carrying a bag, who matched the description of the suspect. However, upon seeing the approaching officers, the suspect took off running. After losing sight of the suspect, a search of the area enabled officers to locate freshly made footprints in the snow in the area of 35 Allegany Street. While following the footprints, officers were lead to the suspect who was found lying down in the rear of the location. As officers approached, the suspect stated, “You got me.” A search of the immediate area enabled officers to locate a bag containing, among other things, two Apple Macbook computers and several pieces of jewelry.

Officers arrested Eddie Alvarez, 35, of Boston and charged him with Breaking & Entering a Residence.
