At about 2:22 AM on Sunday, February 16, 2014, officers on patrol in the area of High Street in District A-1 (Downtown) observed two males being chased by two other individuals on Oliver Street toward High Street. The officers were able to stop all parties involved and observed that the two individuals chasing the males were bloodied about the face, nose, and mouth areas. The two males being chased quickly attempted to explain to the officers that they were being chased by people who wanted to beat them up for no reason. Further investigation by the officers revealed that the chasers were attacked by the fleeing suspects, and the victims (aforementioned chasers) were chasing the suspects in an attempt to apprehend them. The victims reported to the officers that the suspects had “jumped” them near the intersection of Franklin Street and Milk Street. The victims stated they were punched and beaten to the ground, where they were kicked in the face by the suspects. The officers observed minor nicks and scratches with light specks of blood on the knuckles and hands of both suspects.
After the victims positively identified the two suspects, the officers placed 21-year-old Brian Dunphy of Boston and 21-year-old Matthew Kehoe of East Milton under arrest for Assault and Battery by Means of a Dangerous Weapon (Shod Foot). Both victims were transported to the hospital where they were treated for non-life threatening injuries.
