Daily Dose of Great Police Work: Officers Apprehend One for Attempted Arson in South Boston

 

At about 4:32 PM on Monday, February 17, 2014, officers in District C-6 (South Boston) responded to a radio call for a male holding a lighter to a gas pump at the Mobile Gas Station in the area of 85 Southampton Street. 

Upon arrival, officers observed an individual matching the description broadcast of the suspect walking on Mass Avenue from the direction of Southampton Street.  Officers were able to stop the individual, obtain his identity, and perform a pat frisk during which officer’s discovered a lighter in the suspect’s pocket.  The officers brought the suspect back to the Mobile Gas Station, where they spoke to several witnesses who identified the suspect as the man who held the lighter to the gas pump and stated he was going to blow up the station.  Due to statements made to the officers by the suspect, the suspect was transported by EMS to a hospital for evaluation.
