Daily Dose of Great Police Work: Boston Police Arrest Pair for Breaking and Entering in Motor Vehicle in Roxbury

At about 1:15am, Monday, February 03, 2014, officers from District B-2 (Roxbury) patrolling the area of Woodward Street, conducted an investigation of a motor vehicle.

Officers observed the motor vehicle’s passenger window was damaged and there were two males inside the parked motor vehicle.  Officers approached and observed the suspects pulling the radio out with a screwdriver.  Officers inquired what the suspects were doing and the first suspect claimed he was fixing his radio.  Officers observed the ignition column was damaged and there were large rocks in between the driver’s seat and passenger seat.

Officers requested the suspects’ identification credentials and the suspect seated in the driver’s seat produced a Massachusetts DTA card.  While officers were investigating the suspects’, the suspect seated opened the door and fled on foot towards George Street.  Officers engaged in a foot pursuit with the suspect and the suspect threw a radio faceplate on the ground.  The foot pursuit ended when the suspect’s attempt to climb a large fence was interrupted by officers.  A brief struggle ensued and the suspect was placed under arrest.

An officer was injured during the foot pursuit and suffered minor injuries to his knee.

Nicholas Johnson, 23, of Roxbury, was arrested for Resisting Arrest, Assault and Battery on a Police Officer (No Injuries), Breaking & Entering a Motor Vehicle, Night, Possession of Burglarious Tools, and Buying, Receiving or Concealing Stolen Goods. John Baptista, 42, of Roxbury, was arrested for Breaking & Entering a Motor Vehicle, Night and  Buying, Receiving or Concealing Stolen Goods.
