One Less Gun: One Firearm Recovered in Dorchester

At about 7:47 PM on Tuesday, March 11, 2014, officers assigned to District C-11 (Dorchester) responded to a radio call for a group causing a disturbance in the area of 7 Whittemore Terrace in Dorchester.

On arrival, officers observed four individuals standing near a red motor vehicle parked in the driveway of the above address. Upon seeing the officers, the group attempted to exit the driveway and walk away.  The officers stopped the group and learned that none of the individuals lived in the area.   While investigating the individuals’ identities and reasons for loitering on the property, the officers observed several empty beer bottles in the driveway, as well as a .40 caliber Ruger handgun with an obliterated serial number under the right rear bumper of the red motor vehicle parked in the driveway.  Officers were unable to determine who may have been in possession of the firearm; therefore, officers recorded the four suspects’ personal information, and they were released.  Detectives responded, processed the scene, and recovered the firearm.
