At about 9:51 PM on Wednesday, March 12, 2014, officers assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) responded to a radio call for an assault and battery in progress in the area of 1 Brigham Circle, Roxbury.

Upon arrival, officers observed a male victim lying unconscious on the sidewalk in front of 1630 Tremont Street.  Officers observed that he had injuries to his mouth and forearm and requested EMS to respond.  A witness at the scene told officers that the victim was attacked by three black males—one wearing a red and black jacket, one wearing black and gray stonewashed jeans, and a third with unknown clothing.  The witness stated they punched and kicked the victim, then fled on foot up the stairs leading to the Stop & Shop parking lot.  The witness added that that an unknown female also struck the unconscious victim several times about his head and back with an umbrella while yelling at the victim.  The officers observed this broken umbrella left on scene.

As the victim regained consciousness, he was able to recount the incident to the officers.  The victim stated he was walking on Tremont Street when a group approached him, and an unknown female asked him for money.  When he refused, the suspect wearing the black and red coat yelled at him then punched the victim several times, knocking him to the ground.  The other two males joined in the assault, punching and kicking him.  The victim added that his wallet, cell phone, and money were missing.  The victim was transported by EMS to an area hospital.

Officers canvassed the area and located two males fitting the suspects’ descriptions running up Calumet Street near Pequoit and Darling Streets.  Officers detained them and located the victim’s wallet, cell phone, and money under a parked motor vehicle about 15 feet from where the suspects were stopped.

The two suspects were positively identified as the perpetrators in the crime.  Officers canvassed the area for the unknown female and third male suspect to no avail.
