About 12:20 pm, March 14, 2014, a Boston Police officer was on patrol in the Ashmont area of Dorchester (Area C-11). The officer preformed a traffic stop outside of 124 Ashmont Street on a white Honda Civic. An inquiry revealed that the registered owner had a suspended license. While speaking with the occupants of the vehicle, the officer made an observation of the gear shift that appeared to contain bullets. All parties were given an exit order due to no active licensed operators being on scene and the observation of what appeared to be bullets. Verenisa Valdez was placed in custody for Operation of a Motor Vehicle after a Suspended License. During the inventory of Valdez's vehicle an officer discovered a live round of ammunition in the center console. This area was accessible to all three occupants of the vehicle. The officer then demanded that Valdez furnish her license to carry firearms identification card. Valdez reported she did not have one. Given the ammunition being in reach of all parties officers approached the remaining occupants. Officer requested permission from another occupant to take a look in her bag to which she consented. The officer picked the bag up opened it and observed a black Ruger .22 caliber handgun which was loaded, the magazine contained nine .22 caliber bullets. The officer demanded the two passengers to furnish their license to carry firearm identification card. Both replied they did not have one. When officers continued the inventory the vehicle a second bullet was found in the center console and the trunk contained a sword in a sheath.
