Celebrating the Boston Police Foundation: Thanks to all who attended the Boston Police Foundation’s 1st Annual Gala which was held earlier this evening (March 22, 2014) at the Boston Park Plaza Hotel. Special thanks to Fox 25’s Maria Stephanos who was nice enough to host the evening’s festivities. The Boston Police Foundation, founded back in 1993, was created to help and provide financial support through private means for the Boston Police Department. Monies raised are earmarked for, among other things, new equipment, youth programs, advanced training and officer designed wellness & safety programs. Said Commissioner William Evans: “Thanks to the Boston Police Foundation, the men and women of the Boston Police Department have the tools and resources needed to make our city the safest city it can be.” In addition to raising funds, tonight was also about honoring the brave men and women of the Boston Police Department. As such, five awards were bestowed this evening including the Ezekiel W. Hodson Police Officer of the Year Award, the Thomas J. Norton Investigator of the Year Award, the Frederick Schlehuber Outstanding Leadership Award, the Marie Conley Civilian of the Year Award and the Boston Police Foundation’s Hero’s Award.
