One Less Gun: BPD Officers Arrest One, Confiscate Illegal Drugs and Seize a Firearm in Jamaica Plain

At about 11:35am, on Monday, March 3, 2014, officers assigned to the City Wide Neighborhood Drug Control Unit were conducting an investigation in the area of 120 Forest Hills Street in Jamaica Plain as a result of community complaints received relative to drug activity in the area and information received relative to an individual believed to be in possession of a firearm. During the course of their investigation, officers observed the aforementioned individual seated inside a motor vehicle located in a parking lot in the area of 120 Forest Hills Street. Upon seeing the individual, officers promptly approached the vehicle and ordered the suspect to exit the car. Once the suspect was secured, officers conducted a search of the vehicle. During the search, officers located and recovered a loaded firearm in the area previously occupied by the suspect. When asked to produce a license to carry, the suspect was unable to do so.

A search of the suspect enabled officers to locate and take possession of several plastic bags of both Class A and Class B drugs.

Officers arrested Syrus Hampton, 23, of Boston and charged him with the Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition and Possession with Intent to Distribute Class A (Heroin) )& Class B (Crack & Cocaine) Drugs.
