At about 11:10 AM, Monday, March 3, 2014, officers assigned to the Youth Violence Strike Force arrested an individual found carrying an illegal firearm in the area of 30 Castlegate Road in Dorchester.
While on patrol in the area of Castlegate Road, officers observed an illegally parked vehicle occupied by three individuals familiar to police. Upon approaching the car, officers detected a strong odor believed to be marijuana. While talking to the individuals inside the car, officers noticed that the individual located in the back seat of the vehicle appeared to be especially nervous given his refusal to make eye contact with the officers and the fact that his breathing appeared to be accelerated. As officers continued speaking to the individuals, officers observed in plain sight several plastic bags of a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana. Given the packaging of the illegal drug, officers asked the individuals to exit the vehicle. Once outside the car, the suspects were frisked for weapons. During the frisk of one of the suspects, officers felt what appeared to be the grip of a handgun in the suspect's waistband. Officers immediately took possession of the firearm and asked the individual produce a license to carry a firearm. After the suspect was unable to produce a license to carry, officers placed the suspect under arrest. This marks the suspect’s fifth firearm related arrest.
Arrested was Wesner Theodore, 26, of Dorchester. Theodore is charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition
