Tonight, Wednesday, March 5, 2014, Sgt Gary Eblan of the Boston Police Academy stopped by the BCYF Paris Street Community Center in East Boston to talk to community members about staying safe in a seminar titled: 'Street Smarts: Reducing Your Odds of Becoming a Victim'. When asked about the objective of the class, Eblan offered the following; "This course is about making people aware of steps they can take to stay safe and reduce the odds of becoming a victim. Above all else, I want people to always be aware of their surroundings and to trust their instincts. Little things like walking with confidence, looking people in the eye and not getting distracted by either talking or texting on a cell phone can make a big difference in keeping you safe."
