IN THE NEWS: Thanks to the Boston Globe's Milton J. Valencia for the article in today's newspaper underscoring law enforcement's coordinated efforts - both on the local and federal level - to track down sexual predators who fail to register with the state's Sex Offender Registry Board. Since 2007, authorities have arrested 565 people on warrants for failing to register as sex offenders. Those numbers have seen a dramatic increase in the last three years since the partnership with the Boston Police Department. To wit: the unit made 57 arrests in 2011, compared with 71 in 2012 and 84 in 2013, and already more than 50 arrests have been made during the first half of the 2014 fiscal year.
