Photo of the Day: BPD Commissioner Evans Walks for Peace on Mother's Day

On Mother’s Day, May 11, 2014, Boston Police Commissioner William Evans and BPD Superintendent-in-Chief joined Mayor Martin Walsh to participate in Dorchester’s annual Mother’s Day Walk for Peace. The mayor, commissioner, and chief walked with local mothers and their families along the 3.6 mile route from Town Field through Codman Square in Dorchester to benefit the Peace Institute. In his opening remarks, the mayor credited Commissioner Evans and his Boston police officers for their success so far in this year’s ongoing Boston Gun Buyback Program, as well as their diligence in their police work and daily efforts to take illegal guns off the streets of Boston. The mayor urged those in attendance to spread the word and to do their part to bring peace to the communities in Boston.
