At about 9:27 PM on Sunday, May 25, 2014, members of the Youth Violence Strike Force made an on-site arrest for possession of a firearm in the area of 23 Crispus Attucks Place in Roxbury.
While on patrol, officers observed a group standing on a footpath in the area of Crispus Attucks Place. Upon seeing the cruiser, a male, wearing red pants and a red hat, abruptly turned in the direction opposite of the officers and begin to walk away from the larger group. In light of the individual's suspicious behavior, officers attempted to catch up to and engage the individual so as to better understand his decision to separate from the group. As officers got closer, the suspect took off. After losing sight of the suspect for a brief moment in an alleyway behind a red fence, officers regained their visual of the suspect. After stopping the suspect, officers conducted a search of the immediate area for possible drugs or weapons that may have been discarded by the suspect. A search of the area near the red fence enabled officers to locate and take possession of a black Springfield Armory XD-40 firearm (see photo) loaded with a silver and black extended magazine.
After further investigation, officers arrested Alvin Dorsey, 28, of Dorchester and charged him with the Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Armed Career Criminal Level 3, Trespassing, Fugitive from Justice and several other outstanding warrants. Dorsey is expected to appear in Roxbury Court on Tuesday.
