Daily Dose of Great Police Work: Officers Arrest a Juvenile for Armed Robbery in Dorchester


At about 6:56 PM on Wednesday, May 28, 2014 officers from District C-11 (Dorchester) responded to a radio call for an armed robbery in the area of 1 Worrell Street in Dorchester.

On arrival officers spoke with a male and female victim who reported they were walking behind the Murphy School when they were approached by three male suspects, one of whom was recognized by the victims as a former schoolmate. The victims further stated that one of the suspects grabbed the female victim and demanded her cell phone as the other two suspects began to assault the male victim, knocking him to the ground. Both victims further stated that one of suspects brandished a knife and during the struggle cut the male victim on his hand. After taking the victims’ Apple iPhone and Samsung Galaxy cell phones, all three suspects fled on foot toward Victory Road. 

An off duty Boston Police Officer, who happened to be in the area observed two individuals run from the Murphy School area across Victory Road Park and then hide behind 105 Neponset Avenue. The officer quickly alerted additional officers and the two suspects were detained. Officers were able to locate a black folding knife.

Officers arrested a 17-year-old juvenile male from Dorchester and charged him with Armed Robbery. A second suspect was identified and released. Officers searched the area for the third suspect and the stolen phones, to no avail.
