Police Memorial Sunday is a day set aside by statute for the purpose of honoring and remembering deceased members of the Boston Police Department. This year Police Memorial Sunday will be celebrated on June 1, 2014 at the Mount Hope Cemetery on Walk Hill Street in Mattapan. Commissioner William Evans and Boston Police Relief Association President John Sullivan cordially invite police officers and community members alike to attend this year’s ceremony. The ceremony will begin at 9:30am at the main entrance of the Mount Hope Cemetery. Motorcycle officers, members of the Boston Police Honor Guard & Gaelic Column will lead a procession of Boston Police Officers to the Police Memorial Statue. At approximately 10:00am, a Mass honoring deceased members of the department will be celebrated by Department Chaplain Reverend John J. Connolly. An ecumenical service, celebrated by Grand Rabbi Yitzchok A. Korff and Reverend Gary Adams, will follow the Mass.
