One Less Gun: Officers Arrest Two and Recover Two Guns in Less Than 24 Hours

Incident #1: At about 9:33 PM on Thursday, June 12, 2014 officers assigned to the Citywide Drug Control Unit made an onsite arrest and recovered a loaded firearm in the area of Quincy Street and Columbia Road in Dorchester. While conducting an active firearm investigation, officers on patrol were directed to an individual matching the description of the suspect believed to be in possession of a firearm.  As officers continued surveillance of the individual, they observed him adjust an object in his waistband numerous times. As officers approached the individual, he reached toward his waistband. At this time, officers ordered the male to the ground, to which he refused, subsequently fleeing the area on foot. During the brief foot chase in which officers were able to apprehend the suspect, officers observed the individual discard the firearm into some bushes in the area of 392 Columbia Road. Officers recovered a loaded Forehand Arms .32 revolver containing five live rounds. 

Officers arrested 24-year-old Kevin Depina of Dorchester and charged him with Carrying a Loaded Firearm on a Public Way, Unlawful Possession of Firearm and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition. 

Incident #2: At about 4:19 AM on Friday June 13, 2014, officers assigned to the Youth Violence Task Force executed a search warrant in the area of 95 Wayland Street in Dorchester.

As a result of the warrant, officers seized a loaded Rossi .38 special revolver containing five live rounds of ammunition. 

Officers arrested 19-year-old Kaamil Reese of Dorchester and charged him with Unlawful Possession of Firearm and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition.
