At about 6:37 PM on Tuesday, June 17, 2014, members of the Youth Violence Strike Force made an onsite arrest and recovered a firearm in the area of 178 O’Callaghan Way in South Boston.
While on patrol, officers observed a gray motor vehicle operating with an excessive window tint. As officers continued surveillance on the vehicle, they observed the operator abruptly pull over into a parking spot without signaling. As officers approached the vehicle in an effort to speak with the operator, the operator exited the vehicle and approached officers without being instructed to do so. The operator stated that his license was suspended. An inventory of the motor vehicle allowed officers to recover a Taurus 5 shot revolver, numerous live rounds of ammunition and illegal narcotics.
Officers arrested 27-year-old Orlando Santiago of Roxbury. Santiago is charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Possession with Intent to Distribute Class B Drugs, and Operating after Revocation or Suspension.
