One Less Gun: Officers Arrest One and Recover Gun in the Area of 270 Tremont Street

At about 1:47 AM on Friday, June 20, 2014, members of the Youth Violence Strike Force made an onsite arrest and recovered a firearm in the area of 270 Tremont Street.

While monitoring crowds in the area of 275 Tremont Street, officers observed two motor vehicles backing up at an accelerated speed for more than 50 feet. As officers approached the vehicle and queried the driver’s license information, they discovered that the operator was in violation of firearms charges. At that time, the operator exited the vehicle without being told to do so, leading officers to conduct a pat frisk of the individual. Upon asking the individual numerous times if there was anything in the vehicle they should be aware of, the suspect consistently responded that he did not know. Based on the suspect’s evasive response, knowledge of a prior firearm arrest, and his actions, officers conducted a search of the motor vehicle. Officers were able to locate and seize a loaded RG .22 caliber revolver, as well as ammunition.

Officers arrested 25-year-old Douglas Reid of Boston and charged him with Unlawful Possession of a Loaded Firearm, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition.
