PAL Sponsored Boxing Competition to Take Center Stage on City Hall Plaza this Sunday

Let’s Get Ready to Rumble on City Hall Plaza!!! On Sunday, June 29, 2014, Mayor Martin Walsh and the City of Boston will be hosting the Neighborhood Youth Challenge – an international youth boxing competition – pitting a team of fighters from Connemara, Ireland against a team of fighters from Boston. Today, the team from Connemara stopped by Amrhein’s Restaurant in South Boston for a quick bite where they were greeted by Boston Police Superintendent-in-Chief Willie Gross before heading over to City Hall where the Mayor himself welcomed the team to Boston. Said Mayor Walsh, “I’d like to welcome you to the greatest city in America. We’re excited to have you here and we wish you the best of luck in your bouts this Sunday.” Special thanks to the Boston Police Athletic League (PAL), TNT Boxing, Peter Welsh’s Gym, Murphys Boxing and the Claddagh Fund for supporting this event. The first fight on City Hall Plaza is scheduled to begin at 6:30pm, Sunday, June 29, 2014.
