Today, Monday, June 30, 2014, smiling kids and cops were on full display at Boston Police Headquarters thanks to a PAL sponsored BBQ announcing the start of the Junior Police Academy. The Junior Police Academy is one of coolest things the Boston Police Department is involved in and the pictures (see enclosed) certainly tell the story. Every summer, kids between the ages of 9 through 12 attend a week-long camp with officers from their district all the while learning about the Boston Police Department, its mission, its officers and its many operational components. During the week long camp, in addition to trips to places like Fenway Park and the Museum of Science, kids also get a chance to visit the Boston Police Academy, the Range and the Harbor Patrol Unit. At the end of the day, it’s a great way for cops and kids to come together and we thank the Boston Police Athletic League for their help in making this program possible.
