At about 4:36PM on Wednesday, June 4, 2014, officers from District B-3 (Mattapan) made an arrest for possession of an illegal firearm in the area of 540 Norfolk Street.

Officers responded to Norfolk Park after receiving information that an individual may be in possession of an illegal firearm.  Upon arrival, officers observed a group of five males playing basketball and two females sitting on a nearby wall watching. With the assistance of a Boston Police K-9 unit, officers entered the park to further investigate. While officers engaged in a conversation with one of the females sitting on the wall, the K-9 unit gave a positive indication for ballistics in a bag, which the female suspect identified as her property. Further investigation revealed the bag contained a loaded black Kimber .45 caliber semi-automatic handgun that had been reported stolen.

When the female could not produce a License to Carry, officers arrested the female suspect, 20-year-old Daizanai Devoe of Hyde Park, for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Unlawful Possession of a Loaded Firearm, and Buying/Receiving/Concealing Stolen Goods. Officers also arrested a male suspect, 28-year-old Kevin Innocent of Roslindale, for outstanding Warrants.
