One Less Gun: Four Arrested and One Firearm Recovered in East Boston

At about 8:48 AM on Wednesday, June 4, 2014, officers from District A-7 (East Boston) responded to a radio call for a group of males breaking into a vehicle in the area of 6 Clippership Lane, East Boston.

Upon arrival, officers observed a damaged steering column and 4 males inside the caller’s vehicle. As officers ordered the suspects out of the car, an officer observed a bulge consistent with the shape of a firearm in the suspect’s waistband. When a pat frisk of the suspect revealed a firearm in his waistband, the suspect attempted to evade officers, but officers were able to apprehend the suspect after a short foot pursuit. While recovering the loaded Sturm and Ruger .45 caliber firearm, the officers observed the suspect spit a small plastic bag containing a white substance with a brown tint believed to be heroin onto the ground.

The suspect, 18-year-old Maurice A. Nunez of Roxbury, was arrested and charged with Breaking and Entering to a Motor Vehicle, Malicious Destruction of Property, Unlawful Possession of a Loaded Firearm, Possession of a Loaded Firearm while in the Commission of a Felony, Possession with Intent to Distribute Class A, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, and Unlawful Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device.

The other three occupants of the vehicle, 24-year-old Adilson Monteiro of Dorchester and two juvenile males, were arrested and charged with Breaking and Entering to a Motor Vehicle and Malicious Destruction of Property. One of the juveniles also had an active warrant at the time of the arrest.
