Daily Dose of Great Police Work: Suspect Arrested for Trafficking After Stopped for Motor Vehicle Infraction

At about 7:40 PM on Sunday, July 27, 2014, members of the BPD Youth Violence Strike Force (YVSF) affected an onsite arrest as a result of a motor vehicle stop in the area of Walnut Avenue and Rockland Street in District B-2 (Roxbury).

While on patrol, officers observed a motor vehicle that failed to stay within marked lanes for an extended distance. Officers conducted a stop of the motor vehicle and were informed by the operator that he did not have a driver’s license. Officers observed an open container of alcoholic beverage near the operator’s feet, as well as a clear plastic cup of what appeared to be the same liquid in the center console cup holder. Further investigation revealed that the operator’s driver’s license was suspended, and he was not listed on the vehicle’s rental agreement. The operator and his female passenger were ordered to exit the vehicle. During the inventory search of the vehicle, officers recovered 5 “rocks” of what appeared to be crack cocaine weighing over 29 grams and over $500 in US paper currency.

Officers arrested 32-year-old Antwon Foster of Roxbury and charged him with Trafficking Class B Drugs, Possession with Intent to Distribute Class B Drugs, Use of a Motor Vehicle without Authority, and Operating Motor Vehicle after License Suspended/Revoked. Officers ascertained the passenger’s information, and she was released.
