At about 10:50 PM on Saturday, August 9, 2014, members of the Youth Violence Strike Force made an onsite arrest and recovered an illegal firearm in the area of Wales Street and Talbot Ave in Dorchester.
While on patrol in the area of the above location, officers observed a red motor vehicle fail to come to a complete stop for pedestrians in the crosswalk. Officers followed the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop. Upon speaking to the operator, officers learned that he had been operating the vehicle, which his sister had rented, with a revoked license. The suspect was immediately placed under arrest. An inventory of the motor vehicle allowed officers to recover a black and silver Jennings Bryco Arms 9MM firearm loaded with 8 rounds of live ammunition as well as illegal narcotics.
Officers arrested 36-year-old Morris Barnes of Dorchester and charged him with Possession of a Firearm, Possession of Ammunition, Possession with Intent to Distribute Class D Drugs within 100 feet of a Playground, Operating after Revocation, and Using a Motor Vehicle without Authority.
