At about 2:50 AM on Sunday, August 10, 2014, officers from District D-4 (South End) affected an onsite arrest of a suspect for stealing a motor vehicle in the area of Hemenway and Boylston Streets in the Fenway.
While on patrol, officers observed a suspect enter a white taxi and drive away from the above area. A moment later, the victim frantically flagged down the officers and reported that his car was stolen and pointed toward the white taxi, now stopped about a block away. Officers activated the emergency equipment (blue lights and sirens) on their vehicle and were able to cut off the stolen vehicle a short distance away. The suspect was removed from the stolen taxi and arrested.
A 33-year-old suspect of Stratford, CT was charged with Larceny of a Motor Vehicle and transported to the District D-4 police station. Shortly after he posted bail and left the station, officers observed the suspect asleep in the front seat of a marked Boston police cruiser parked on the street in front of the station. After officers were able to rouse the suspect from his nap, he told officers he was just looking for a place to rest. The suspect was placed under arrest (again) and charged with Breaking and Entering to a Motor Vehicle. It is unknown how the suspect gained entry to the cruiser.
