At approximately 11:22am on August 12, 2014, officers were in the area of School Street in Dorchester (Area B3) to affect the arrest of a suspect for an outstanding default warrant issued out of Dorchester District Court. While briefly conducting surveillance, officers observed the suspect and approached him. Upon noticing the officers, the suspect’s right hand went to the front of his waist as if to gain hold of something and he began to run. Officers engaged a foot chase into an apartment and observed the suspect pull from his waist band what appeared to be a silver colored firearm which the suspect discarded on the floor. The suspect ignored the officers commands and actively resisted the attempts to place him in custody. Once officers placed the suspect under arrest, they were given permission by two other occupants of the apartment to search it. During the search, an officer located a zip lock baggie containing a green leafy matter believed to be marijuana and a glass mason jar containing eight individually wrapped bags of green leafy matter. A search also revealed the following: One black digital scale and six rounds of ammunition located in a plastic bag.
Gequann Perry, 23, of Dorchester will be charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm Subsequent Offense, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Carrying a Loaded Firearm, Resisting Arrest and Armed Career Criminal Level 3.
