One Less Gun: BPD Officers Arrest One and Recover One Illegal Firearm in Dorchester

At about 10:48 PM on Friday, August 15, 2014, members of the Youth Violence Strike Force affected an onsite arrest of a suspect for illegal firearm violations in the area of 11 Arcadia Street in District C-11 (Dorchester).

While on patrol in the area of Adams Street and Ronan Park, officers received information from a reliable, confidential source that there was a suspect in the area on a bicycle who may be unlawfully carrying a firearm. Shortly after receiving the tip, officers observed a male fitting the suspect’s description riding a bike at Arcadia Street and Arcadia Park. Officers attempted to stop this individual, but the suspect dropped his bike and fled on foot. When officers caught up to the suspect, they attempted to pat frisk him and a struggle ensued. During the struggle, the suspect reached a number of times for his waistband and eventually a loaded silver .32 caliber Iver Johnson revolver fell from his pant leg.

When the suspect could not produce a license to carry, officers arrested 19-year-old Tristan Preval of Boston for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Carrying a Loaded Firearm, and Resisting Arrest.
