One Less Gun: Officers Arrest One Suspect and Recover an Illegal Firearm on Talbot Avenue in Mattapan

At about 1:23 AM on Monday August 18, 2014, officers from District B-3 (Mattapan) while on patrol made an on sight arrest for possession of an illegal firearm in the area of 15 Talbot Avenue in Dorchester.

Officers were traveling on Talbot Avenue, when they observed a male in a red hooded sweatshirt walking through the parking lot of the Boys and Girls Club located at the above address. As officers passed by, the male abruptly grasped his front midsection with his hand, reversed direction and briefly disappeared behind a parked motor vehicle.  Officers quickly caught up to the male as he reappeared from behind the parked motor vehicle. Upon the officers’ approach and without provocation, the male suddenly lifted his shirt and began to pat himself down in order to reveal to officers that he did not have any weapons on him.  Due to the seemingly voluntary act of the individual, officers searched the area around the motor vehicle where he was previously seen and recovered a loaded I.J.A. & C.WKS .22 revolver directly under the motor vehicle.

Officers arrested 19-year-old Steeve Niclas of Dorchester and charged him with Illegal Possession of a Firearm and Illegal Possession of Ammunition.
