One Less Gun: Two Arrested and Two Illegal Firearms Recovered in Dorchester

At about 9:35 PM on Friday, August 22, 2014, members of the Boston Police Youth Violence Strike Force made an onsite arrest of two suspects for firearm-related charges in the area of 45 Centre Street in District C-11 (Dorchester).

While on patrol in the area of Washington Street and Talbot Avenue, officers received a radio call for a fight inside Mayor Menino Park. Officers were on scene seconds after the broadcast and observed only two males walking through the park. As officers approached the individuals, the males immediately made moves to evade the officers. As the males fled, an officer observed what appeared to be the handle of a firearm protruding from the waistband of one of the individuals.

The two suspects split up, and officers pursued them on foot. After a brief foot pursuit, officers were able to apprehend both suspects. A search of the suspects’ flight paths revealed a loaded black and silver Phoenix Arms “Model HP22” .22 caliber semi-automatic handgun in a bush near 45 Centre Street, as well as a loaded black Beretta “Mod 950BS” .25 caliber semi-automatic handgun in a yard near 54 Lithgow Street. Both firearms were recovered and processed by police.
