Boston police officers continue their efforts to make the communities of Boston a safer place to live and visit by recovering two more illegal handguns and making two arrests in just over two hours yesterday, Thursday, August 28, 2014. The BPD has now recovered well over 825 firearms in 2014, thanks to the diligent work of officers to take crime guns off the street and the actions of community members who have turned in firearms through the Boston Gun Buyback Program. A total of 667 guns were recovered in 2013.
The facts and circumstances of the incidents are as follows:
Incident #1: At about 10:15 AM on Thursday, August 28, 2014, detectives from District B-3 (Mattapan) executed a search warrant in the area of 241-243 Woodrow Avenue in Dorchester. Among other evidentiary items, officers recovered a loaded black semi-automatic .9mm Beretta Parabollum. Officers arrested 24-year-old Jean Wenson Bazile of Dorchester on related warrants.
Incident #2: At about 12:45 PM on Thursday, August 28, 2014, members of the Citywide Drug Control Unit made an on-site arrest of a suspect for firearm-related charges in the area of 66 Clarkson Street in District (C-11) Dorchester.
While on patrol in the above area, officers received information and a description of an individual believed to be illegally in possession of a firearm. After conducting surveillance on this individual, officers observed the suspect take actions and make motions that led the officers, all of whom were trained by the ATF in Characteristics of an Armed Person, to believe he was indeed in possession of a firearm or weapon. Officers made contact with the suspect, and further investigation revealed a loaded black semi-automatic Beretta caliber .9 Corto firearm in the suspect’s waistband.
The suspect could not produce a license to carry, and officers arrested 24-year-old Jaime Aquino-Bracero of Dorchester for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, and Carrying a Loaded Firearm. Aquino-Bracero was also arrested on an active outstanding warrant.
