At about 3:18 AM on Sunday, August 3, 2014, officers from District B-3 (Mattapan) made an onsite arrest and recovered an illegal firearm in the area of 1181 Blue Hill Ave in Mattapan.
While on patrol in the area of the above location due to a call for shots fired, officers observed four individuals standing near two motor vehicles, one of which matched the description of a vehicle seen leaving the area in which the shooting had taken place. As officers waited at the stop light, they observed one of the individuals open his coat and push an object into the right side of his pants. As officers pulled over to speak with the individual, he grabbed his right hip area and quickly walked away from the group. Following a brief foot chase, officers were able to catch up with the individual. Officers located a loaded black and silver Taurus handgun, previously reported stolen, on his person.
Officers arrested 21-year-old Shakim Lamar Lewis-Johnson of Brockton and charged him with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Carrying a Loaded Firearm, and Receiving Stolen Property.
