Police Officers from around the Region Pedal their Way to Ground Zero in New York to Honor Police Officers Lost 13 Years Ago

Today, September 11, 2014, over 300 riders representing police departments from around the region - including NYPD and Boston’s Finest - hit the road for the first day of a four day bike ride from Boston to New York to honor and remember all the police officers and first responders killed 13 years ago running towards danger while so many did their best to escape it. Commissioner Evans addressed the riders prior to their departure from the Boston Marathon Finish Line earlier this morning. Said Commissioner Evans, “As we all know, we lost a lot of great police officers and firefighters on this day thirteen years ago. This day gives us a chance to forever remember and recognize their service and sacrifice and I thank you for honoring them with your participation on this ride.”
