At about 8:05 PM on Thursday, September 18, 2014, members of the Youth Violence Strike Force made an onsite arrest and recovered an illegal firearm in the area of 49 Bellevue Street in Dorchester.

While on directed patrol in the area of the above location due to recent firearm related incidents, officers observed a motor vehicle violate numerous motor vehicle laws. Officers then activated their emergency equipment (lights and sirens) and initiated a traffic stop. As officers approached the vehicle, they observed the rear passenger moving around, specifically, lifting himself off of the seat before suddenly bending forward at the waist as though to conceal an item and then moving to the middle of the back seat. The rear passenger was asked to exit the vehicle. A search of the area in which the male was sitting allowed officers to recover a Llama .380 semi-automatic firearm loaded with five rounds of live ammunition. Upon discovering the firearm, all occupants were asked to exit the vehicle. Further investigation revealed that the female operator did not have a valid license as well as numerous outstanding warrants and was placed under arrest. A female passenger was identified and released from the scene.

Officers arrested 24-year-old Andre Garcia, of Brockton and 20-year-old Jasmin Rivera of Holbrook. Garcia is charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Carrying a Loaded Firearm on a Public Way, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm 2nd Subsequent Offense. Rivera is charged with Operating after Revocation.
