At about 1:51 AM on Wednesday, September 3, 2014, officers from District B-3 (Mattapan) made an onsite arrest and recovered an illegal firearm in the area of Wilcock Street and Blue Hill Ave in Mattapan.

While on patrol in the area of the above location, officers observed an unknown black male on a bicycle wearing a black hooded sweatshirt over his head. The male was stopped on the sidewalk intently looking into a black sedan which had been stopped in the right travel lane. At this time, officers observed the male pull the sweatshirt down concealing his face, reach into his waistband as though he were attempting to grab at an object. Officers, aware that the male matched the description of a suspect in a prior assault, approached the male. The black sedan drove away as the suspect began to flee the area on his bicycle. Officers were able to stop the suspect instantaneously. Due to the nature of the previous assault and the characteristics displayed by the suspect, officers conducted a pat-frisk which revealed a Kel-Tek 9MM firearm loaded with seven rounds of ammunition as well as a small plastic bag containing a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana.

Officers arrested 22-year-old Marcus Jones of Mattapan and charged him with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Carrying a Firearm without a License, Carrying a Loaded Firearm, and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition. Jones was also issued a City Ordinance Violation for Possession of Marijuana.
