Community Boat Ride Around Boston Harbor Enables Boston’s Finest to Thank Some of Their Most Trusted Team Members

Today, Tuesday, September 9, 2014, Commissioner William Evans bid bon voyage and smooth sailing to over 500 community members, many of them elderly, who enjoyed a beautiful day cruising around Boston Harbor on the Spirit of Boston courtesy of Boston’s Finest and monies raised through several charitable endeavors and some very generous community members. Said James Stone of Stone Security Consulting, whose company donated several thousand dollars to help defray the cost of today’s boat ride for hundreds of grateful community members, “The men and women of the Boston Police Department do so much for so many in our community, anything we can do to support them in their efforts, we’re more than happy to do. For me, helping make today’s boat ride a reality is a dream come true and something I feel honored to be a part of.” Community members from Districts B-2 (Roxbury), B-3 (Mattapan) and C-11 (Dorchester) were treated to a three hour cruise around the harbor which included a complimentary lunch, some great company and plenty of laughs. Said Lt. Tim Torigian of District B-3 (Mattapan), “As a police department, this is one of the best events we do. It’s more than a just a boat ride. It’s our way of strengthening some already strong relationships and thanking community members and neighborhood watch groups who’ve helped and assisted us throughout the year in our on-going efforts to keep our city safe. Public safety is a team sport and everybody you saw on the boat today was there because they’re all valuable members of our team and we can’t thank them enough.”
