One Less Gun: BPD Officers Arrest One & Recover Two Firearms in Roxbury

One Less Gun: BPD Officers Arrest One & Recover Two Firearms in Roxbury - At about 12:12pm, on Wednesday, January 21, 2015, officers assigned to the Youth Violence Strike Force were on patrol in the area of Holworthy Street due to recent reports of firearm activity when officers observed three individuals leaving a property where ‘No Trespassing’ signs were clearly and prominently displayed on the front of the building. When officers engaged the individuals and asked if anyone lived at the location, all three responded that they did not. In light of the above information, officers asked if any of the individuals were in possession of any weapons. Upon hearing this question, one of individuals took off running. While running behind the individual, officers noted that the suspect was grabbing and clutching at his waist area in such a way as if to suggest he was in possession of a weapon. After a brief foot pursuit, officers were able to catch up to and apprehend the suspect. A pat frisk of the suspect showed that he was not in possession of any weapons. However, officers were able to locate two firearms (see enclose photo) lying on the ground in the rear of 132 Harrishof Street after retracing the steps taken by the suspect during the foot chase.

Specifically, officers recovered two loaded firearms: (1) a Taurus .380 Millenium PT 138 and (2) a Ruger .22 Revolver.

Officers arrested Jerry Gray, 18, of Boston and charged him with the Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Carrying a Loaded Firearm.
