One Less Gun: Search Warrant Enables BPD Neighborhood Drug Control Unit to Arrest One, Seize a Gun and Illegal Narcotics in the South End

One Less Gun: Search Warrant Enables BPD Neighborhood Drug Control Unit to Arrest One, Seize a Gun and Illegal Narcotics - At about 12:30pm, on January 22, 2015, Neighborhood Drug Control Unit officers executed a search warrant for an individual by the name of Tyrone Rogers at a location listed as 21 Hammond Street in Boston. While conducting surveillance of the area, officers observed the suspect exit the above-mentioned location. Upon seeing the suspect, officers approached the suspect and informed him that they were in possession of two search warrants: one for his person and the other for his residence. When asked if he had anything in the way of illegal narcotics on his person or in his residence, the suspect stated that there were some things he shouldn’t have, referring to illegal narcotics, in his place of residence. At this time, officers peacefully entered 21 Hammond Street. Once inside, officers located and recovered several plastic bags of a Class A Drug (heroin), several rounds of ammunition and a single barrel shotgun. 

Officers arrested Tyrone Rogers, 42, of Boston and charged him with Possession with Intent to Distribute a Class A Drug (heroin) and the Unlawful Possession of Ammunition. 

Lester Rogers, 72, of Boston was charged with the Unlawful Possession of a Firearm.
