One Less Gun: Three Illegal Firearms Recovered in Mattapan

At about 7:40 PM on Tuesday, January 6, 2015, an officer from District B-3 (Mattapan) was performing a walking beat in the area of Johnston Road and Blue Hill Avenue when he heard what sounded like gunshots. As the officer continued toward Johnston Road, he heard more gunshots and observed two suspects fleeing the area and firing what appeared to be a black handgun. The officer pursued the suspects on foot, but to no avail. Responding officers canvassed the area and recovered two firearms, a black Berretta .40 caliber handgun and a black Colt revolver, on the ground in the area of 7 Wilcock Street.

Approximately ten minutes later, officers stopped a male fitting the description of the suspects in close proximity to the crime scene. Upon performing a pat frisk of this subject, officers recovered a loaded black Ruger P95 firearm from his pant leg.

The 16-year-old juvenile male of Dorchester was arrested and charged with Delinquent to wit: Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, and Carrying a Loaded Firearm.

No injuries were reported as a result of this incident.
