At about 10:30 PM on Thursday, October 15, 2015, members of the City Wide Drug Control Unit responded to a call for a person with a gun in the area of Cedar Street in District B-3 (Mattapan).
Officers arrived at the above location and observed a group of eight males. After brief surveillance of the group, officers were able to identify the suspect. Officers approached the group and conducted a pat frisk of all individuals for their safety. Officers recovered a loaded FIE Titan .25 caliber semi-automatic pistol with obliterated serial numbers from the suspect. When the suspect, 22-year-old Rashawn Edwards of Boston, could not produce a License to Carry, he was arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Unlawfully Carrying a Loaded Firearm, and Possession of a Firearm with Obliterated Serial Numbers. The other individuals in the group were identified and released. Edwards will be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
