Daily Dose of Great Police Work: Concerned Citizen Assists Officers in Locating Armed Robbers in Dorchester

At about 6:50 PM on Tuesday, October 20, 2015, officers from District C-11 (Dorchester) responded to a radio call for an armed robber in the area of 80 Welles Avenue at TJ Convenience Store.

Upon arrival, officers spoke with the victim who reported that he was working the counter at the above store when two males entered the store and robbed him at gunpoint. The victim stated the suspects came behind the counter, pointed a firearm at him, and stole an unspecified amount of money from the register, as well as multiple packages of Backwood cigars and the victim’s wallet.

As officers canvassed the area, a concerned citizen reported that a group of kids who appeared suspicious ran into the basement of a residence in the area of 9-11 Melbourne Street. Officers responded to that location and, while clearing the basement, observed what appeared to be a black firearm among debris in a chimney flue. On the other side of the basement, officers observed the victim’s wallet with ID and personal papers. When officers continued their protective sweep on the roof, they found three males huddled against a wall. Two of the males were identified as the suspects and the third male was later identified on surveillance video fleeing the scene with the other two suspects.

A 17-year-old juvenile male from Boston was arrested and charged with Delinquent to wit; Armed Robbery, Trespassing, and Unlawfully Carrying a Dangerous Weapon. Eighteen-year-olds Lacroix Pledger and Torin Mahar, both of Boston, were arrested for Trespassing and Armed Robbery.
