One Less Gun: Two Firearms Recovered After Two Known Suspects Arrested in Two Separate Incidents

INCIDENT #1:  At about 2:50 PM on Saturday October 3, 2015, officers assigned to the Youth Violence Strike Force made an onsite firearm arrest as part of an active and ongoing investigation in the area of Amory and Dimock Streets in Roxbury.  Officers observed the target of their investigation, Tyre Wade, 23, of Dorchester, operating a motor vehicle and pulled him over after he committed a traffic infraction.  As officers were approaching the vehicle, they observed the suspect suddenly lunge out of sight towards the front passenger side floor area before sitting back upright.  Officers removed the suspect from the car after they learned that his driver’s license had been suspended, recovering a Ross .38 Special Revolver from the passenger side floor area in the process.  The suspect was placed in custody without incident.  The suspect will appear in Roxbury District Court on charges of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and Operating a Motor Vehicle After Revocation or Suspension.

INCIDENT #2:  At about 10:50 PM on Saturday October 3, 2015, officers assigned to District C-11 (Dorchester) made an onsite firearm arrest of a known suspect in the area of Washington Street and Columbia Road.  Officers were on directed patrol in the area in response to several recent incidents involving gun and gang related violence.  Officers were on Bowdoin Street when the suspect, Giovanni Roberson, 18, of Dorchester, walked in front of their cruiser while clutching at the right side of his jacket.  The suspect then got into the back seat of a waiting motor vehicle while looking back towards the officers several times.  Officers followed the car and pulled it over after a motor vehicle infraction.  When officers spoke to the operator about his traffic violation, he agreed to allow the officers to search the car.  The suspect was removed from the rear seat of the vehicle and a loaded Davis Industries Model P-380 handgun was recovered from his right coat pocket during a pat frisk.  The suspect was placed in custody without incident.  The driver received a citation and was released from the scene.  The suspect will appear in Dorchester District Court on charges of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Dangerous Weapon Unlawfully Carried and Possession of a Firearm with an Obliterated Serial Number.
