Daily Dose of Great Police Work: Officers Track Down and Apprehend Fleeing Bank Robbers

 

At about 3:10 PM on Friday, October 9, 2015, officers from District A-1 (Downtown) responded to a radio call for a bank robbery in progress at the Hingham Institution for Savings in the area of 80 Charles Street.

Upon arrival, BPD officers and the FBI Bank Robbery Task Force were notified that two male suspects had entered the bank, displayed a black handgun, jumped over the counter, and made away with an undisclosed amount of US currency. Officers received information that the suspects had fled on foot then jumped into a taxi cab. With the assistance of keen witnesses, the District A-1 detectives, and the BPD Hackney Unit, officers were able to locate the taxi in less than 15 minutes in Charlestown.

Officers apprehended and positively identified the two suspects. Recovered from the suspects during the arrest were an undisclosed amount of US currency and what appeared to be a black firearm. Fifty-five-year-old Anthony Pantone of Malden and 50-year-old Russell Dinovo of Wilmington were arrested and charged with Armed Robbery with possible other charges pending. They will be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court.
