One Less Gun: Officers Execute Search Warrant in Hyde Park, Recover Firearm, Arrest Suspect Wanted in Connection to Brazen Daytime Shooting

At about 4:45 AM today, Wednesday November 11, 2015, officers assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) and members of Boston’s elite SWAT Team executed a search warrant as part of an active and ongoing investigation in the area of 58 Gordan Avenue in Hyde Park.  After a thorough investigation, District B-2 Detectives identified Malachi Scott, 19, of Hyde Park, as the assailant wanted in connection to a brazen daytime shooting which occurred at about 3:00 PM on Wednesday October 28, 2015, in the area of 1170 Tremont Street.  One person suffered a non-life threatening gunshot wound during that incident.  As a result of their coordinated efforts, officers were able to breach the suspect’s apartment and place him in custody without incident while recovering a loaded .22 caliber Ruger handgun which may have been used in the shooting two weeks prior.

The suspect will appear in Roxbury District Court on charges of Assault with Intent to Murder, Assault and Battery by means of a Dangerous Weapon and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm.
