One Less Gun: Officers Arrest One, Recover Loaded Firearm After Investigating Group Smoking Marijuana in Roxbury

At about 7:08 PM on Thursday November 5, 2015, officers assigned to the Youth Violence Strike Force made an onsite firearm arrest in the area of 12 Wardman Road in Roxbury.  Officers were on directed patrol in the area in response to numerous recent complaints of drug and gang related activities.  Officers observed a group of males standing in a common hallway smoking marijuana and approached to speak with them.  One of the men, Fraylin Sosa, 19, of Roxbury, continued to smoke a marijuana cigarette in front of the officers as they were speaking to him.  When the officers went to take the rolled cigarette away from him, they noticed he suddenly became very protective of his waistband area while turning away from them.  Officers performed a pat frisk and removed a loaded Dan Wesson Arms .357 Magnum CTG revolver from his waistband.  The suspect was quickly placed in custody without incident and will appear in Roxbury District Court on charges of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Carrying a Loaded Firearm and Trespassing.
