Daily Dose of Great Police Work: Officer's Keen Observation Leads to Arrest of Two Armed Robbers

 

On Wednesday, December 8, 2015, an officer from District C-11 (Dorchester) on-sited an armed robbery in the area of 80 Florida Street.

While on patrol in the above area, the officer observed two young males following another male on the sidewalk. Upon observing the officer the two young males became nervous and crossed the street before returning to their original spot as the officer passed in her cruiser. Believing the males were engaged in unlawful design, the officer circled the block to return and investigate; as she did she was approached by a witness who stated that the two young males were robbing the victim.

Officers canvassed the area and after two lengthy foot pursuits and violent struggle with one suspect, they were able to locate both suspects. Officers learned that the suspects had stolen the victim’s cell phone at knife-point. Officers were able to recover the knife used in the crime as well as the victim’s property from the suspects.

A 16-year-old juvenile male from Dorchester was arrested and charged with Armed Robbery and Destruction of Property. The second 16-year-old juvenile male from Dorchester was charged with Armed Robbery, Assault by Means of a Dangerous Weapon, Assault and Battery on a Police Officer, and Resisting Arrest.
